The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children see an orthodontist by the age of 7. By this time, most children have lost the majority of their baby teeth and many of their permanent teeth have erupted. This window of time when a child's jaw is still growing is the ideal time to evaluate their orthodontic state. Early detection and prevention of any issues will save a significant amount of time and extra treatment in the future.
There are many ways to help support your child in good oral health. Most importantly is helping them maintain a regular brushing and flossing routine. Children should brush their teeth with fluoridated toothpaste at least twice a day and floss once. In addition to regular cleaning, limiting overly sugary/starchy foods and encouraging plenty of good vegetables and fruits is important. For younger children, avoiding prolonged pacifier and sippy cup use will also help them maintain a healthier oral state.
In the case of early orthodontic evaluation, the term "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" really resonates. Early detection and prevention of any issues your child may have will save a significant amount of time, extra treatment, and money in the future. If issues are caught early enough, we may even be able to correct the issue at hand prior to needing treatment in the future.
Yes! Invisalign Teen is specifically designed with kids (and parents) in mind! In addition to being easy to wear, clean, eat and drink in, these aligners have built in accountability! A faint blue line on the clear aligner that fades with consistent use helps your child stay accountable to wearing their aligners the recommended 22 hours per day.
Yes! We know that orthodontic treatment is an investment in the future, and we want to make it as accessible as possible for your entire family to achieve healthy, beautiful smiles. That is why we offer treatment discounts for each additional family member who is in treatment at Lin Orthodontics.
